Ike

I contacted Nancy at Mica Dog Training after adopting Ike, a 2 year old Lab that had developed some unwanted habits during his long stay at the shelter – namely dog reactivity, self-control, and anxiety inside the home. We have worked in group training with Nancy before with our other dog Robin and were very pleased with the training, but with Ike’s dog reactivity I wanted to start off with individual training.

After the very first session I began to see positive changes in Ike’s habits inside the house. Every session we focused on a certain area of improvement and Nancy was very helpful in showing the required steps in the exercises before doing them myself. She showed great patience on some of the exercises it took Ike longer to figure out and would explain possible reasons why it was harder for him to grasp. It has been very rewarding to see Ike progress and develop with the help of Nancy during our individual training. I highly recommend the services from Nancy at Mica Dog Training for anyone with any and all training goals in mind for their dog.

Mo and Havana

We are very pleased to share our experience with Nancy. We have two seven year old hounds who were rescued from a high-kill shelter. They were deprived of the ability to experience normal socialization at any early age. The consequence for us was some significant behavioral issues and fear based aggression. After some scary dog fights, we definitely needed professional help and Nancy was recommended by our behavioral vet. Nancy came to our home for private lessons. She approached our situation as a thoughtful problem solver. She showed us how to work with the dogs and made suggestions for helping them overcome their issues. Nancy helped us get to a point where we can truly enjoy our dogs. And the dogs are happier as well – the changes in their demeanor is obvious.
We highly recommend Nancy.

Beckett

January 19, 2016

Nancy and Mica Dog Training are wonderful! We called Nancy because our goldendoodle, Beckett, was suffering from separation anxiety, had a lack of impulse control, and would refuse to get into the car. Nancy has been coming to our house once a week and Beckett’s behavior has continued to improve in so many ways. She used to roll over and make it difficult for my husband or me to pick her up when we tried to get Beckett to go into her crate or pen. Thanks to Nancy’s positive behavior modification training techniques, she now willingly goes into her pen when we tell her to. In preparation for a car ride, Beckett also now calmly lets us put her safety harness on her rather than engaging in a wrestling match and jumps into the car without hesitation. She is also much calmer now in general.

I also greatly appreciate that, not only has Nancy been kind and patient with Beckett, she has treated me that way as well when training me how to handle Beckett. I highly recommend her.
