Trick Star 2 – Online Class

Tricks are great for dogs of all ages and abilities! Your dog will have so much fun they won’t even notice that they are also learning self control, focus, and important foundation skills. These skills will help your dog become better at responding to you and impress your friends. Tricks will also help prepare your dog for obedience or agility in the comfort of your own home.

Looking for an introduction to trick training? Check out Trick Star 1!

Take your trick training to the next level!

Tricks covered will include

  • paws up
  • bow
  • monkey/say your prayers
  • walk with me/cop-cop
  • cross your paws
  • and several more

The class is designed to be completed over 4 weeks and will include detailed written and video instructions. But you can go as fast or slow as you like.

If your dog already knows lots of tricks but you would like to brush up on foundation skills, we will discuss stimulus control and discrimination so your dog is not wildly offering various tricks. If for any reason a trick is not appropriate for your dog, for example, because of physical limitations, I will be happy to offer an alternative trick.

Start/End Date: Begin at anytime! Questions can be submitted for 10 weeks after purchase date.

Pre-requisites: Ideally dogs will be familiar with marker/reward based training but I will also provide information on it at the beginning of class. Dogs should also be familiar with hand targeting, sit and down.

Equipment Needed: Your dog, food or treats he will work for, clicker (optional, but recommended). A supply list will be provided for Trick Star 2 but all tricks can be done with regular household items for props.

Method used: All tricks will be taught using positive reinforcement and it is recommended you train with a hungry, food motivated dog.

Fee: $40 – Everyone will be able to ask questions for 10 weeks from puchase date.

About the Instructor: Nancy Liebhauser is a Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT). She has been training and teaching tricks to her own dogs and group classes for 4 years. Her visually impaired Golden Retriever, Clover, has her Advanced Trick Dog Title (https://youtu.be/dXDIoUd8DFk) and her 6 month old Australian Shepherd, Gambit, just got his Novice Trick Dog Title (https://youtu.be/BE12oyFw0UU). Clover is currently working on her advanced burrito trick (https://youtu.be/wMCkKEIF5zg). Nancy has witnessed firsthand the positive affects teaching “silly” tricks can make in a dog’s behavior. She’s passionate about helping others unleash the power of trick training with their own dogs.
